Cuisine
The Chhattisgarh state is known for its diverse cultivation of agricultural products. These products influence the cuisines of Chhattisgarh to a large extent. Wheat, jowar and maize form the staple foods of the state.

The central region of Chhattisgarh is a fertile plain and is extremely favourable for paddy cultivation. Rice is grown here on an extensive scale. Hence this central portion is known as the 'rice bowl of India'. No wonder rice also forms an important constituent of people's diet here. Other important agricultural produce used in the diet comprises of coarse grains, fruits, pulses, etc.
Culture
The state of Chhattisgarh is also characterized by an equally rich culture and heritage, which is manifested by its tribal population. The tribals of this state have their distinctive languages, cuisines, music, dance and lifestyle.
History
Chhattisgarh, once known to be a part of Madhya Pradesh, has had a vibrant history. A legend says that Lord Ram stayed in Dakshin Kosala during his exile days.

The region of Chhattisgarh was referred to Dakshin Kosala in the ancient times. The modern-day state was always referred to with different names during different times. In the ancient times, it was referred to as Dakshin Kosala and also Mahakosala.
Language
The main languages spoken in Chhattisgarh are Chhattisgarhi and Hindi. Hindi is spoken to a great extent. It is perhaps considered an influence of Madhya Pradesh, the state which Chhattisgarh was once a part of. But the singular linguistic aspect of Chhattisgarh is the Chhattisgarhi language.

Chattisgarh has several saints have their origin such as, Parsurama Ramnami and Vallabha Acharya. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a noted Hindu leader and founder of the Transcendental Meditation was from Raipur.
