Chitradurga Fort is a marvel of military architecture that is defined by walls of huge granite blocks. A series of three gates leads into the irregular inner zone comprises of Palaces, mosques, temples, oil tanks etc. There are small temples and ceremonial gateways nearby, created by the Bedas. You can also see the mud built granaries, houses and a large circular well close to the fort.
The archaeological museum at Chitradurga was established in 1951, in an endeavor to preserve various artifacts belonging to Chitrdurga and its neighboring districts. The objects on display include arms, sculptures, portraits, manuscripts, etc belonging to Chitradurga andBrahmagiri (viz. neoliths, coins, beads, Pottery, ivory, sculptures, iron objects, glass, ivory, pottery, terracotta, modern sculptures). Articles unearthed during excavation at Chandravalli are also on display in this museum.
Chandravalli is a historical site located to the western part of Chinmuladri Hills. A motorable road on the left of Chitradurga Ц Holalkere high way leads to the Chandravalli Valley. Some of the worth visiting spots in Chandravalli include Siddheshwara temple, Panchalingeshwara cave temple, Chandravalli Lake and Tiger Boulder etc.
