The largest earthen dam in the country and one of the oldest dams in Asia, Wilson Dam or Bhandardara Dam is at Bhandardara. The height of the dam is nearly 150 m. The overflowing water makes the Umbrella Falls, which is a picturesque sight during the monsoon season. The cool placid waters of the river run by the miles.
The peaceful ashram of Bhandardara attracts a lot of tourists. And is also often a lodging place for many tourists. This ashram, situated at the base of Pravara River, is preffered because of its scenic beauty and quiet ambience.
Ghatghar is one of the famous viewpoints which is is situated at 22kms from Bhandardara and offers excellent views of the Sahyadri ranges.
Mount Kalsubai is the highest peak of Maharashtra, on the Sahyadri range. Standing at an altitude of 1,646m above sea level, this mountain is famous for trekking. It also gives breathtaking views of the Arthur Lake and the Wilson Dam. During the Maratha rule, this peak point served as the watchtower. It is an ideal place for those who enjoy trekking, as are the surrounding hills.
This Ratangadh fort is famous for trekking, too. But it also narrates a historical story. This Fort was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and was one of his favorite forts. The fort offers great views of the countryside. One of the many attractions that captivate the tourist's eye is the Konkan Kada, which is often termed as the trekker's delight.
Randha falls is situated at Placed Igatpuri region of the Sahyadris. It is a 45 m high waterfall. The falls is 11 km from Wilson Dam. The water of the falls is used for generation of hydro-power. The falls is a tourist spot at Bhandardara.
