Bara Basti is a village within Kohima that offers an intimate glimpse into traditional Naga life. The traditional Naga ceremonial gateway to Bara Basti is carved with motifs of guns, warriors and symbols of prosperity. The traditional homes of Bara Basti feature crossed 'horns' on the gables, carved heads to signify the status of the family, and a huge basket in front of the house to hold the grain.
The Kohima War Cemetery is a symbolic memorial commemorating the memories of the officers and men who sacrificed their lives during World War II. It was well maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and steeped in tranquility, it is embellished by two tall crosses against the backdrop of seasonal roses and lush grass.
Dzulekie is a place marks the lush evergreen sub-tropical forests and is 40 km west of Kohima and is at 2,133.6 metres above sea level. Another interesting feature of Dzulekie stream is that it flows through a deep and narrow gorge making it look as if the stream has gone underground the place. A rare species of rainbow trout is found in this stream.
The Kohima Zoo is created on a hill. The sloping portion of the hill has been innovatively utilised to create free and natural space for the animals housed inside the zoo. Other than the main attractions, it is also possible to find a variety of animals and birds within the zoo.
