Jag Mandir
Jag Mandir Palace is situated right in the middle of the Kishore Sagar, on a small island. The Jaj Mandir palace was built in 1740 by one of the Maharani of Kota. This palace can be seen at its best early in the morning but is exquisite at any day time. The azure waters around the Jag Mandir enhance its beauty. Boat rides can also be enjoyed in the lake.
Kota Fort
The Kota Fort is one of the famous tourist attraction in Kota and overlooks the Chambal river. This fort also houses the museum and has some elaborately painted chambers. The Kota fort was built by the Jait Singh, in the mid 13th century. The Kota Fort is known for its Durbar Hall which has beautiful paintings and mirror work and has doors of ebony and ivory. The exquisite miniature paintings of the Kota school are also housed within the Durbar Hall. The Maharajas of Kota later abandoned the fort and build various palaces.
Chambal Gardens
The Chambal Gardens, located along the banks of River Chambal is a great spot for picnicking. If you are lucky, you can catch sight of the rare gharials (type of crocodiles) as you negotiate the wobbly bridge across the river.
The Haveli Devtaji
The Haveli of Devtaji is an wonderful palace; this palace is also interesting for its major historical significance. Like most of the other enigmatic palatial buildings in the Indian state of Rajasthan, the Haveli of Devtaji in Kota stand as a witness to the rich Rajput past of the region. The beauty of this palace lies mainly in the fantastic murals. These frescoes display the remnants of the splendid tradition of which the palace was an important part.
